Heading into the month of August

Bonjour!

So I've been out here at the campsite for 3 weeks already now...time flies! I would like to have written sooner but my laptop currently doesn't connect to the Internet so I borrow a friend's from time to time to check emails.

My job in the bar is going well in general and I like doing the morning shift for the most part, except starting at 8.30 every day 6 days a week (I'm not a morning person!). I serve pastries, baguettes, coffees, ice creams and sweets a lot, and there is restocking, clearing up and plenty of other bits and bobs to be doing. I also work 1-2 evenings a week. The one main evening I do work is pub quiz - the busiest time in the bar - which is a bit frustrating as I don't feel up to speed with all the drinks and some other things which only happen during evening shifts. There are 4 of us dodging round each other with one till, it's a bit crazy!

Behind the bar the customers ask us all manner of queries and questions. We get new questions all the time which keeps us on our toes and I'm often still serving in the bar during the time when Reception is closed at lunch time. We do our best to help but sometimes it's difficult when we don't know the answers.

Some interesting moments: being interviewed by a radio reporter in French; helping a lady with some French phrases to go to the pharmacy; spilling hot chocolate everywhere (fortunately wasn't boiling); bashing my foot on a hard metal door stopper in my enthousiasm to go over to customers to give them information.

I get along fairly well with my French colleagues and I manage to speak a fair amount, it's really handy to have the language.
